The first nucleus of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs emerged in 1953 from the agreement of self-determination for the Republic of Sudan which created the position of Sudan Under-Secretary held by a Sudanese National, the position main duty is to link between the first national government and the Governor-General’s Palace, in different matters related to Sudan’s foreign affairs.
The Sudan Foreign Agency, also known as the Office of Special Affairs, was a small office attached to the Office of the Governor-General, and began exercising its duties with a simplified scope and a limited human cadre. This agency after independence later becomes the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is today.
